LCF brings stars to Wichita
We are very excited to announce that we will have a series of fundraiser events over the next six months. The first one is "Remembering the Western in Film" with Buck Taylor of Gunsmoke and Tombstone and Barry Corbin of Lonesome Dove and Northern Exposure. The two men will share their experiences at 6 pm at the Wichita Orpheum on November 5 followed by a screening of the western Conagher starring Taylor, Corbin, Sam Elliott, Dub Taylor and others. All proceeds from this night to benefit Lone Chimney Films. Tickets on sale at all Select A Seat locations and all Dillons stores beginning Monday, September 12.
Also, Buck will be with us on Friday at the Prairie Rose Chuckwagon for an art show followed by dinner and music. Tickets for the Prairie Rose event are for sale by calling the Prairie Rose at 316-778-2121. A portion of those proceeds also go to Lone Chimney. We welcome aboard the Prairie Rose as one of our sponsors for our upcoming project.

Lone Chimney Films and the Kansas Sampler Festival
Lone Chimney Executive Director Ken Spurgeon and Board Member Tim Rues will be manning a table at the Kansas Sampler Festival in Leavenworth, Kansas on May 1 and 2, 2010. The Festival will be held at the Ray Miller Park, 4201 S. 4th Street in Leavenworth. If you plan on attending be sure to stop by the LCF booth to say hello. Many fine retail establishments in Kansas and Missouri have chosen to carry Bloody Dawn and a list of them has been added to the LCF website here. With our sales representatives roaming the midwest on a regular basis, this list will grow rapidly so, if you don’t see a retailer near you, check back in a while and there is a good possibility you will soon.

Bloody Dawn: The Lawrence Massacre to air on Wichita and Topeka PBS Stations
Bloody Dawn will air on Topeka’s KTWU Monday, August 17 at 8:55 p.m. and on Wichita’s KPTS on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Bloody Dawn is available for purchase at the LCF Store as well as at certain retail locations in Kansas and Missouri (a list of them is coming soon, we promise.

Lone Chimney Films Executive Director Ken Spurgeon featured historian in August 2009 issue of True West Magazine
Our own Ken Spurgeon answers questions about the filming of Bloody Dawn: The Lawrence Massacre and discusses his career as an historian in the August 2009 issue of True West Magazine, on news stands now. Ken is the August issue’s “featured historian” for the True West’s regular column “What History has Taught me.” Ken’s interview isn’t up on True West’s web site yet but as soon as it is, we’ll post a link here. And here it is.
Bloody Dawn: The Lawrence Massacre will air August 17, 2009 on Topeka’s KTWU
We haven’t been advised of the final air time yet (most likely 7:00 or 8:00 p.m) but we’ll post it here as soon as we’re told. If you haven’t gotten your copy of Bloody Dawn yet, it is available here. All proceeds go toward funding LCF’s next documentary film.

Buck Taylor to make personal appearance at October 18th Screening of Bloody Dawn at the Orpheum
We have just confirmed that Buck Taylor, the narrator of Bloody Dawn: The Lawrence Massacre will be on hand at the Wichita Orpheum on October 18th for the premiere of the broadcast cut. Buck starred in the long-running TV series Gunsmoke and has appeared in numerous feature films, including Tombstone, Gods and Generals, and Gettysburg. Bloody Dawn will screen at the Wichita Orpheum on October 18, 2008
A 60 minute version of Bloody Dawn will screen at the Wichita Orpheum on Saturday, October 18 at 7 p.m. This will be the version of the film that will be seen on PBS in 2009. Black Flag and Borne on the South Wind Trailers Filmed
On several dates in late July and early August, the LCF crew gathered to film promotional trailers for its next two documentary productions, Black Flag and Borne on the South Wind.
Set immediately following the Lawrence Massacre and on the day of its fiftieth anniversary, the trailer for Black Flag recreates the opening volley of Union and Kansas retaliation against the guerillas responsible.
The trailer for Borne on the South Wind centers around a young Clyde Cessna who looked up one day and decided he wanted to fly.
Both trailers are currently in post-production and will debut here, on the Lone Chimney Films website. Until then, you’ll have to make due with the production photos below.
